Samantha (Sam) King is the founder of SK & Associates Financial Services, and a mortgage and finance broker who genuinely loves helping people make sense of finance, and maybe even enjoy the process along the way.

Sam brings a mix of deep industry knowledge, real-world lending experience and a brain that naturally looks for smart, simple solutions. As a neurodivergent entrepreneur, she sees things differently, and that gives her an edge when it comes to solving tricky scenarios or finding a way forward where others might say “you can’t”.

She has worked with hundreds of clients to secure lending that actually suits their lives, not just a lender’s checklist. With formal qualifications and full MFAA membership, Sam knows the rules inside out, and she isn’t afraid to advocate hard and do the work with the lender to help clients get where they want to go. That approach has been recognised by the industry: in 2026, Sam was named a finalist in three categories at the Connective Excellence Awards, including All Round Broker of the Year and the Empowerment Award.

For Sam, how the business runs matters just as much as the results. She has built a team grounded in trust, not micromanagement, where everyone is treated as an equal and empowered to work within their strengths. When she’s not structuring lending strategies, you’ll probably find her squeezing in a gym session between meetings, working from the beach in summer, a cosy tiny home in winter, or tucked away in a library with a coffee and her laptop. She has built her business to work flexibly, so she can show up for clients in the way they need while honouring how she works best.

Tenacious, passionate and never afraid to stand up for what’s right, Sophie brings a rare mix of banking depth, lending expertise and leadership experience to SK & Associates.

Sophie’s career began at Defence Bank, where she built strong foundational banking skills under exceptional leadership. A relocation took her to NAB, where she grew through roles spanning frontline banking, lending and people leadership. Along the way, she developed extensive experience across both residential and investment lending, working with everyone from first home buyers taking their first step to seasoned investors growing their portfolios.

That breadth means Sophie understands lending from every angle: how banks assess a deal, what makes an application strong and how to structure lending that works for a client’s goals, not just today but for the long term. Wherever she has worked, one thing has stayed constant: an unwavering focus on exceptional customer outcomes and an impeccable experience from start to finish.

Sophie also has a keen interest in commercial and development lending, a space that has long been dominated by men. She wants to see more women at the table, and she’s ready to lead by example.

Joining SK & Associates was an instinctive decision. “Banking taught me one thing above all else: adapt,” Sophie says. “Sam has built a business grounded in relationships, trust and authenticity, and those values align so strongly with how I work, live and show up.”

Outside of work, Sophie is an avid reader, is learning a new language and soaks up the sun whenever she can. She loves her garden, is committed to strengthening her body and mind, and above all is focused on being present for her family.

Lauren Flood

Lauren is an integral part of SK & Associates Financial Services, bringing more than 25 years of experience in lending support roles, along with exceptional organisation, knowledge and genuine care to every client and loan she manages.

With such extensive experience behind her, Lauren has an incredible understanding of the lending process and what it takes to keep an application moving smoothly from start to finish. Highly intuitive, proactive and incredibly self-sufficient, she takes ownership of every file she manages, stays across the finer details and knows exactly when to act independently, ask questions or escalate something that needs attention.

Lauren has also become affectionately known as Sam’s “second brain”. She has mastered the art of interpreting Sam’s half-finished thoughts, rapid-fire ideas and neurodivergent way of working, often knowing what needs to happen before Sam has finished explaining it. Together, they have developed a seamless way of working that clients regularly recognise, with reviews frequently referring to “Sam and Lauren” as a team.

For Lauren, the role is about much more than managing a loan application. Her communication combines professionalism and knowledge with genuine warmth and care. She understands that finance can sometimes feel overwhelming and takes pride in making sure clients feel informed, supported and looked after throughout the process.

Outside of work, family is a huge part of Lauren’s life. She loves spending time with her husband and son, catching up with family and friends, and enjoying the simple things. When she gets some downtime, you’ll often find her in the garden or outdoors, enjoying a good laugh and making the most of time with the people she loves.
